and Single Breasted Notched Collar Vest Pattern Selection

#3 is a Single Breasted
Notched Collar Vest and is
typical of the type worn with
both frock coats and sack
suits. The collar is notched, it
buttons very high on the
chest, has four welt pockets
and two inside breast pockets.
There is a cinch belt, also
called a “back strap” in the
back. The collar is “Laid on”,
the term for a collar that does not go all the way around the
neck. This is typical of mid to late 19th c. vest collars. The
center front at the waist comes to a very subtle point.
